I was born in Westlake Village, California on September 22, 1980. When I was six my family moved to San Jose, near San Francisco, which is where I was raised. Though I have been writing fiction since I was in the second grade, I studied animation in college and went on to work for over ten years as a professional graphic designer and animator. In early 2005, after more than a year at my first office job, I realized that in all my artistic pursuits, I have always been the most fulfilled when telling a story. Thus, I committed myself to writing, whether on weekends, evenings, or while working part-time jobs. I currently live and write in Fullerton, California, where I also work as a LIfe Skills Coach for Easter Seals Southern California.
I am a life-long lover of fairy tales, and much of my work is inspired by writers like Hans Christian Andersen, the Brothers Grimm, and Charles Perrault. More recent inspirations include Roald Dahl, Kate DiCamillo, JK Rowling, and Jonathan Stroud, I enjoy reading all genres of fiction. Some of my favorite writers are Leo Tolstoy, Fyodor Dostoevsky, Will Cather, Jane Austen, and James Joyce.
